Our Story
Our Friendship
Elise and Ryan met in 2012 when they worked together at Primo's Pizza & Pasta in Miramar, Florida. She was a cashier and he was a waiter and they spent many Monday night shifts talking about everything and nothing while business was slow. After becoming closer, they'd hang out outside of work typically meeting to grab a bite whether it was grabbing smoothies at FIU (where they were both attending at the same time) or Los Verdes. Elise would end up moving to Orlando, and later Ryan to Boston, but they still kept in touch with the periodic phone call or hanging out whenever they were in the same area. Sometimes it would be the coincidental South Florida visit where they'd meet up to dance in Miami or meeting up in Orlando when Ryan was in town with friends.
Our Relationship
Once COVID hit, both Elise and Ryan were out of long-term relationships, and they began calling each other more often. Their friendship began to grow even stronger and it was common for them to stay up late talking on Facetime on a weekly basis. Elise planned a trip to visit Ryan in Boston in October 2020 for a long weekend. After spending a few days together adventuring around and enjoying each other's company, the two realized their friendship was more than that. A few months after this trip, they made their relationship official and they would spend the next two years dating long distance. Long distance comes with its difficulties, but Elise and Ryan made the best of it doing weekly FaceTime movie dates, visiting each other, planning trips, and even hanging out with friends together online to play video games.
The Proposal
Being in a long distance relationship, Elise and Ryan would have many conversations about their next steps (Elise wanting to move up to Boston, looking at engagement rings), the proposal was imminent, but Ryan was determined to surprise Elise with something special. In early 2023, a mark of their official 2 years together, they planned a weekend trip that included visiting the beautiful mansions of the "cliff walk" in Newport, followed up by spending a night in Providence and then visiting Elise's best friend in New York. There were many romantic moments, whether on the walk with a view of the sea in Newport, or a romantic dinner in Providence, and Ryan didn't realize in his planning that the weekend was full of potential anxiety-inducing proposal moments. Choosing the last day of the trip as an idea to propose was now starting to not seem ideal. After arriving in Providence and frankly, Elise being an anxious mess, Ryan was going over how the proposal was not happening that night, and decided to switch plans on a whim. They got in the car and drove about 45 minutes north to go and get the ring from his apartment, where he left if behind. Ryan took Elise to Hopewell Bar & Kitchen in Allston to share a whiskey sour to bring back some nostalgic moments from Elise's first trip to Boston to visit Ryan, where their romantic relationship all started, and then he took her to a park that overlooks the city where they had previously gone on one of her first visits to see him, and proposed there.
The original plan was going to take place Sunday morning with Ryan surprising Elise to go and see the sunrise at a beach near Boston. Although they didn't get to do the proposal there, they still went Sunday morning to enjoy the experience of what was supposed to be a very romantic proposal, and celebrated the last day of her ever visiting Ryan, and now being his fiancée.
Now
In March 2023, Elise moved up to Massachusetts and moved in with Ryan in Somerville (well, technically on the Somerville / Medford border). They live together with their dog Luna, their cat Milo, and their bearded dragon, Rudy. They've taken many weekend trips all around the North East including Vermont, Maine, Montreal, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and to many different areas within Massachusetts itself. On their free time, Ryan and Elise enjoy going to local music shows, checking out art galleries, eating at their favorite delicious local spots or walking around the neighborhood taking film pictures.
